Today’s find on Trove (the online digital media collection from the Australian National Library), is a knitting pattern for these smart Fair-Isle mittens.
Sized to fit a hand of 7 inches in circumference (a teen or women’s size small in today’s standards), these mittens can be knit with oddments of fingering weight wool in any choice of colours. They are knit flat on two needles for those who don’t like knitting in the round, but you could easily modify the pattern for in the round knitting without seams.
You’ll find the pattern in “The Land” newspaper, March 29th 1945.
