Oak Leaf Tidy

Rectangular lace leaf doily knit from a Victorian era knitting pattern.
from “The Ladies’ Guide to Elegant Lace Patterns, Etc.”

This tidy can be knit with any yarn and needles to suit by casting on a number of stitches that can be evenly divided by 20 plus 7 extra for the edge stitches. A minimum of 47 sts is required.

The sample was knit with fingering weight cotton on 3mm needles and measures 45½ cm/18″ by 35½ cm/14″. I worked 9 pattern repeats.

Pattern

This pattern was identical to the Apple Leaf Tidy from Home Work (published in 1891), but I have added a stitch to the left hand edge to make it completely symmetrical.
