Alpaca poncho knit with supre stitch

After seeing a machine knit poncho knit with this stitch in Supré in 2012, I decided I had to work out how to hand knit the stitch. It’s quite tricky sneaking photos in a mall these days so I hope you enjoy the result 😉

To get the same look as in the photo, use a yarn with a lot of drape (alpaca would look nice), and needles a couple of sizes larger than you normally would for your choice of yarn.

Abbreviations

sl 1 = slip 1. When not part of a decrease, these stitches are slipped purlways

sl wyif = Worked on a wrong side row. slip 1 purlways with yarn at the front of the work. This keeps any yarn floats at the back of the work.
