Abbreviations

k = knit
k2tog = knit two together
yo = yarn over (bring yarn forward between the needles and to back over right needle)
s = slip stitch from left hand needle to right hand needle as if to purl
psso = pass slipped stitch over

Pattern repeats over 21 stitches plus 2 stitches for edge garter stitch. For example, for 5 pattern repeats cast on 107 stitches (21 x 5 = 105 + 2 = 107).

Cast on desired number of stitches. Knit 1 row and purl 1 row (making sure to knit first and last stitch of each row).

Row 1: K1, *k2tog, k3, k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k1, k2tog, k3, k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k2, repeat from *, k1.

Row 2 (and all even numbered rows): K1, purl to within 1 stitch of end, k1.

Row 3: K1, *(K2tog, k1) twice, yo, k3, yo, (k1, k2tog) twice, k1, yo, k3, yo, k2, repeat from *, k1.

Row 5: K1, *S1, k2tog, psso, k1, yo, k5, yo, k1, s1, k2tog, psso, k1, yo, k5, yo, k2, repeat from *, k1.

Repeats rows 1-12 until desired length. Then, knit 1 row, purl 1 row, and bind off.
