Version 1

This version has the style of selvage in the original pattern

In Words

Cast on a multiple of 4 sts (4 for each repeat and 4 for the selvages) and knit one row.

Row 1 (WS): Yo, k2tog, *p3tog, (k1, p1, k1) in next st, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 2: Yo, k2tog, purl to the end of the row.
Row 3: Yo, k2tog, *(k1, p1, k1) in next st, p3tog, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 4: Yo, k2tog, purl to the end of the row.

Rows 1 to 4 form the pattern. Repeat for the desired length. Cast off after working row 1 or 3.
