Lace Collar Pattern No 5

Knitted lace vine leaf collar with ruffled top
A sample of the collar pattern. You can see that if a yarn with a bit more “bounce”, such as wool was used, the top would have a lovely ruffled edge.

Rows 1 – 12 form the pattern. Repeat for the desired length. The original pattern recommends working “about 30 patterns”, or 30 pattern repeats for the body of the lace but it does not say what the recommended yarn weight or needle size is.

Heading

To work the heading, pick up the stitches along the top of your collar and work “K6, k2tog” along. If your stitches total a multiple of 8 + 6 extra you can work *K6, k2tog; repeat from * to the last 6 sts, k6.

You can alter the number of stitches at each end if the number of stitches isn’t divisible by 8 +6

Knit 12 – 14 rows

Next row: *K6, yo; repeat from *to the last 6 sts, k6 (again, alter the number of stitches at each end if the number of stitches isn’t divisible by 8 +6)
Cast off.
