Patons Beehive Baby Wool or Baby Wool with Nylon
18-19 inch underarm – 3 balls.
Length from top of shoulder – 16 ins.
Length of sleeve seam – 1½ ins.
Knitting Needles, 1 pair each UK Nos. 11/3mm/US 2 and 12/2.75mm/US 2
Patons Crochet Hook No. 12.
Four Small Buttons.
Length of Ribbon.
Tension
8½ stitches to the inch in width, measured over plain smooth fabric.
Pattern
The Front
Using No. 11 Needles, cast on 138 stitches.
Work 4 rows in Garter Stitch.
** 1st row: K2, * yo, K8, yo, K1, rep. from * to last st, K1.
2nd row: K1, purl to last st, K1.
3rd row: * K2tog, yo, K1, yo, K8, yo, rep. from * to last 3 sts, K2tog, yo, K1.
4th row: As 2nd row.
5th row: K1, K2tog, yo, * K1, yo, K8, yo, (K2tog, yo) twice, rep. from * to last 13 sts, K1, yo, K8, yo, K2tog, yo, K2.
6th row: K1, P4 * (P4tog) twice, P7, rep. from * to last 13 sts (P4tog) twice, P4, K1. **

Rep. from ** to ** twenty times.
Next row: K3, * K2tog, rep. from * to last 3 sts, K3. (72 sts).
Using No. 12 Needles, proceed as follows:
1st row: K2, * P1, K1, rep. from * to end of row.
Rep. 1st row twice.
4th row: * K2tog, yo, K1, rep. from * to end of row.
Rep. 1st row three times, dec. once at end of needle in last row.
8th row: Using No. 11 Needles, cast off 4 sts. knit to end of row.
9th row: Cast off 4 sts, purl to last st, K1.
*** 10th row: K18, (yo, K8, yo, K1) three times, K18.
11th and 13th rows: K1, purl to last st, K1.
12th row: K19, (yo, K8, yo, K2tog, yo, K1) twice, yo, K8, yo, K20.
14th row: K20, (yo, K8, yo, K2tog, yo, K2tog, yo, K1) twice, yo, K8, yo, K21.

Continue in plain smooth fabric on last 22 sts, dec. once at neck edge in every alt. row until 20 sts remain.
Work 7 rows without shaping. Cast off.
The Back
Work exactly as given for Front to ****·
Rep. from *** to *** twice.
Cast off loosely.
The Sleeves
Using No. 12 Needles, cast on 44 stitches.
1st row: Knit.
Rep. 1st row three times.
5th row: K7, * inc. once in next st, rep. from * to last 7 sts, K7. (74 sts).
Using No. 11 Needles, proceed as follows:
1st row: K1. purl to last st, K1.
2nd row: Knit.
Rep. 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 1½ ins. from commencement.
Dec. once at each end of needle in every row until 34 sts remain. Cast off.
Work another sleeve in same manner.
The Front Neck-Band
With right side of work facing and using No. 12 Needles, knit up 39 sts evenly round front of neck.
Work 3 rows in Garter Stitch. Cast off loosely.
The Back Neck-Band
With right side of work facing and using No. 12 Needles, knit up 21 sts evenly across back of neck.
Work 3 rows in Garter Stitch. Cast off loosely.
To Make Up
With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron, press lightly.
Using a flat seam, sew up side and sleeve seams.
Sew up shoulder seams for 1 inch.
Sew in sleeves, placing seams to side seams and gathering extra fullness at top.
Using Crochet Hook, work 2 rows of dc (US single crochet) round shoulder openings making 2 button loops on each front shoulder in 2nd row.
Sew on buttons to correspond with loops.
Thread ribbon through holes at waist. Finally, press all seams.
