Materials
- 1 oz. blue and 1 oz. white 4-ply wool;
- 1 pr. each of old UK Nos. 9 and 12/US 5 and 2/metric 3.75 and 2.75mm needles;
- 3 small buttons.
Measurements
To fit 20 inch chest;
length from shoulder, 11 inches.
Tension
7 stitches to 1 inch.

B., blue;
W., white.
Pattern
Using blue wool and smaller needles cast on 68 sts. Work 12 rows, inc. 1 st. in last row (69 sts.).
Change to larger needles and white wool.

2nd row: W., purl.
3rd row: B., * K.1, Slip 1, P.1, repeat from * to end.

To Shape Neck:
K.32, tum.
Working in stocking st., dec. once at neck edge in next 4 rows (28 sts.).
Continue without shaping till work measures 11 inches from commencement, ending with a purl row.
Next row: K.12, cast off 16 sts., leave on spare needle.
Cast off 23 sts. at neck edge, and work remaining 32 sts. to correspond with other side, till 11 inches are completed, ending with a purl row.
Cast on 47 sts, P.12 sts. from holder (87 sts.).
Continue in stocking st. till work measures 15 inches from commencement.
Join in white wool, and work 1st to 6th rows of patt.
Continue in patt., casting off 3 sts. at beg. of next 6 rows.
Then repeat 1st to 12th rows 4 times, dec. once at end of last row (68 sts.).
Change to smaller needles and blue wool. Work in rib of K.1, P.1 for 16 rows.
Cast off in rib.
Cuffs
Using smaller needles and blue wool, with right side facing pick up 54 sts. evenly along sleeve edge.
Work in rib of K.1 , P.1 for 10 rows.
Cast off in rib.
Neck
Using smaller needles and blue wool, with right side facing pick up 88 sts. evenly round neck.
Work in rib of K.1, P.1 for 4 rows.
Cast off in rib.
To Make Up
Press lightly. Sew up side seams.
Make 3 loops on shoulder. Sew on buttons.
