I have the back and right front done but am having problem with left front. I don’t see a chart for border pattern and I cannot figure out how to follow the chart given. Is that for right front only, left front only or both. After I do rows 1 and 2 it says to follow in this manner, please tell me what to follow for rows 3 to 8. Thank you!

    • Sarah

      Hi Lorraine,

I’ve updated the pattern with the rows written out and made a chart for the left front. Please let me know if it works out right.

Is this pattern for a new born? Also, may I know what is meant by “Keeping Garter Stitch and lace edge correct throughout, work 6 rows”? Is this repeat the last 6 rows 6 times? Please explain. Thanks.

  3. Janice

These 6 row make up the lace pattern , that you repeat up the front along the front garter stitch border up the front for . I repeated it 9 times time . Then continued with the row of pattern in which you decrease.. Hope this helps. Janice

Made a mistake in using SIRDAR snuggly yarn, the sweater turned way too big as it is a 4 ply yarn.I am sure it could fit a year old ☺, how many ply is the Paton beehive baby wool? I love the pattern and will try it again with Paton yarn. Thank you for the lovely pattern.

    • Sarah

It’s probably more of a 3 ply baby yarn than 4 ply. Anything with a suggested gauge of 32sts to 4 inches/10cm will work.

oh..oh..just measured my 32 sts are 5 inches, how can I make it smaller ? any ideas , I will have to take it all apart.

I am on right front, after I knitted the garter stitch and the next 8 rows then did next 6 rows and I repeated the 6 rows again then next row and then 13 rows then you add another and then it says 16 rows so
L am confused – if I knit 6 then knit the 6 rows again and then the two added rows I only come up with 14 rows, so I don’t know where the other 2 rows would come from or what they would be. Also when you do the decrease row after the 6 you only have 40 stitches so then if you do the 13 rows each row only has 40 stitches instead if 43 stitches, is that correct? Please advise. Thanks

oh dear…I knitted it months ago…and I do remember having the same problem..but somehow I completed it and it came perfect!!! ☺Nilda
