Materials
I used approximately 60gm of scraps of 8ply (DK) wool.
Tension
20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st st on 4.5mm needles, or needles needed to obtain gauge.
Abbreviations
Sl1 = slip one st purlwise
yfwd = yarn forward. Bring yarn to the front of the work
yb = take yarn to the back of the work (This is not an increase)
Technique
Linen St:
1st row: (K1, yfwd, sl1, yb) to last st, K1
2nd row: P2, (yb, sl1, yfwd, P1) to last st, P1
Cast on 63sts and work in random stripes in linen st until work measures 9 inches (22.5cm)
An interesting speckled effect can be achieved by working several consecutive stripes of 2 rows each.
Cast off and block
