20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st st on 4.5mm needles, or needles needed to obtain gauge.

Using green, cast on 47sts and knit 94 rows garter st. Cast off.

Cast on 4sts and work 14 inches (36cm) of i-cord for the flower centre. Cast off.

Cast on 4sts and work 36 inches (91.5cm) of i-cord for the flower petals. Cast off.

Wind the i-cord for the centre into a spiral and secure with neat stitches on the back. Sew to the centre of your background square.

Sew the i-cord for the petals into position with a neat running st, using the photo as a guide.
