Teapot shaped potholder

This pattern uses American crochet terms. US single crochet = UK double crochet. US double crochet = UK treble and so on

Materials

American Thread Company “Puritan” Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton, article 40, 2-200 yd. Balls Yellow and
“Star” Pearl Cotton, article 90, size 5, 4-50 yd. Balls Blue will make Cookie Jar, Plate and Teapot Holders.

Steel Crochet Hook No. 7/1.65mm.

Pattern

Work first 51 rows same as cookie jar potholder.

52nd and 53rd Rows: Decrease 1 pattern at beginning and end of each row (10 patterns left).

Next 5 Rows: Work even in pattern, ch 1, turn.

Next Row: 1 sc in each sc (20 sc) ch 1, turn.

Next Row: 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

Next 4 Rows: Decrease 1 sc at beginning and end of each row.

Next Row: Decrease 1st sc, sc in next sc, 1 sdc in each of the next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1 sdc in each of the next 2 scs, sc in next st, break thread.

Work another section in same manner.

Spout

With Yellow, ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row: 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

3rd Row: Working in sc, increase 1 sc at end of row, ch 1, turn.
