Eight Small Buttons.

Tension

To get these measurements it is absolutely necessary to work at a tension to produce 8 stitches to the inch in width measured over stocking stitch.

Pattern

The Left Front

Using smaller needles, cast on 48 stitches.

1st row: K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to end of row.

Rep. 1st row twenty-three times, dec once at end of needle in last row.

Using larger needles, proceed as follows:

** 1st row: K1, * K1, P1, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

2nd row: K1, (K1, P1) three times, * P1, K1, rep from * to end of row.

3rd row: * K1, P1, rep from * to last 7 sts, (P1, K1) three times, K1.

4th row: K1, * K1, P1, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Rep. 3rd and 4th rows twice. **

Rep. from ** to ** five times, then from ** to 6th row once.

Keeping continuity of patt cast off 3 sts at beg of next row, then dec once at beg of needle in every alt row four times.

Work 22 rows in patt without shaping.

Cast off 15 sts at beg of next row, then dec once at neck-edge in every row four times.

Work 1 row in patt without shaping.

Shape shoulder as follows:

1st row: Work to last 11 sts, turn.

2nd row: Work to end of row.

Cast off.

The Right Front

Using smaller needles, cast on 48 stitches.

1st row: * K1, P1, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Rep 1st row twenty-three times, dec once at beg of needle in last row, making a buttonhole in 3rd and 4th rows, then in following 11th and 12th rows once.

To make a buttonhole:

1st row: Work 4 sts, cast off 2 sts, work to end of row.

2nd row: Work to last 4 sts, cast on 2 sts, work 4 sts

Using larger needles, proceed at follows:

1st row: K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row: * K1, P1, rep from * to last 7 sts, (P1, K1) three times, K1.

3rd row: K2, P1, K1, cast off 2 sts, P1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end of row.

4th row: K1, * K1, P1, rep from * to last 4 sts, cast on 2 sts, work to end of row.

Work to correspond with Left Front, working border and shapings at opposite ends of needle and making a buttonhole in every following 15th and 16th rows five times. (8 buttonholes.)

The Back

Using smaller needles, cast on 80 stitches.

1st row: K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to end of row.

Rep 1st row twenty-three times

Using larger needles, proceed as follows:

** 1st row: * K1, P1, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Rep 1st row once.

3rd row: K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to end of row.

Rep 3rd row five times.**

Rep from ** to ** five times, then from ** to 6th row once.

Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec once at each end of needle in next and every alt row until 66 sts remain.

Continue in patt without shaping until armholes measure same as front armholes.

Shape shoulders as follows:

1st and 2nd rows: Work to last 11 sts, turn.

3rd and 4th rows: Work to last 21 sts, turn.

5th row: Work to end of row.

Cast off.

The Sleeves

Using smaller needles, cast on 46 stitches.

1st row: K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to end of row.

Rep 1st row nineteen times.

Using larger needles, work in patt as given from ** to ** for Back, inc. once at each end of needle in 7th and every following 6th row, until there are 64 sts on needle.

Work 3 rows in patt. without shaping.

Dec once at each end of needle in every row until 32 sts remain. Cast off.

Work another Sleeve in same manner.

The Collar

Using smaller needles, cast on 77 stitches.

1st row: K1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end of row.

Rep 1st row thirteen times.

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows, 6 sts at beg. of following 2 rows, and 12 sts at beg of following 2 rows.

Cast off in Moss Stitch.

To Make Up

With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron, press lightly.

Using a flat seam sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams.

Sew in sleeves, placing seams to side seams.

Sew collar in position commencing and ending 3 sts from front edges.

Using Crochet Hook, work 1 row of dc (US single crochet) round collar.

Embroider collar with rosebuds.

Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes. Finally, press all seams.
