Materials
I used approximately 75gm pale pink 8ply (DK) wool @ 100m (105yd) per 50gm.
Tension
20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st st on 4.5mm needles, or needles needed to obtain gauge.
Technique
Cast on 48sts and increase as follows:
K2, inc in each st to last 2 sts, K2
Work in basketweave pattern as follows:
Rows 1, 3, and 5 (Wrong side): K2, P to last 2 sts, K2
Rows 2 and 4: Knit
Row 6: K2, *sl next 4 sts onto dpn and and hold in back, K4, then K4 from dpn; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2
Rows 7, 9, and 11: K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2
Rows 8 and 10: Knit
Row 12: K6, *sl next 4 sts to dpn and hold in front, K4, then k4 from dpn; rep from * to last 6 sts, K6
Rep these 12 rows 6 times in all (72 rows), then cast off, working the sts as follows:
K2, K2 tog to last 2 sts, K2.
Block.
