Snowman

Size

Approximately 12cm tall excluding pompom

Materials

Scraps of white, orange, green, red (or any colour for hat), and black yarn – DK or worsted weight
Small amount of toy filling

Method

Snowman
Using white make a knitted tube of 24 rounds.
Take off machine according to instructions, but do not pull the top gather tight.
Work locking stitches at the base of the knitting.

Stuff lightly, pull top gather tight and work locking stitches at the top. Wind some yarn around the “neck” (about 1/3 from the top) and pull to indent the neck.

With black, embroider face using 2 lazy daisy stitches for each eye (work one lazy daisy st around the other on each eye) and embroider the mouth with large backstitches. Embroider the nose using orange by working 3 horizontal satin stitches, then work 3 vertical satin stitches over the top of these.

Embroider the coal buttons down the front of the snowman’s body using 3 horizontal satin stitches for each button.

Hat and Scarf
Using hat colour make a knitted tube of 12 rounds.
Take off machine according to instructions, but do not pull the top gather tight.
Work locking stitches at the base of the knitting, this will be the “top” of the hat.

Fit the open end of the knitting over the snowman’s head and sew in place.

Make a pom-pom using your chosen colour and sew to the top of the hat.

For the scarf, make a twisted cord with red and green, approximately 42cm long. Wind twice around neck and tie in place.

If you would like to hang your snowman from your Christmas tree add a loop of yarn at the top of the hat.
