Right Hand Glove
Cast on 50 sts. and work 2½ ins. in K1, P1 rib, change to patt, which consists of 1 row only, worked on the first
29 sts (expalined below in the pattern). The palms and fingers are in st st
1st row (RSF): (K2, P2) 7 times, K1, K to end.
2nd row: P21, patt 29, i.e., K2, P2, 7 times, K1.
3rd row: Patt 29 , K twice into the next st., K to end.
4th row: P22 , patt 29.
5th row: Patt 29, inc. into each of the next 2 sts., K to end.
6th row: P24, patt 29.
7th row: Patt 29, K to end.
8th row: As 6th row.
Rep. the last 4 rows 5 times , allowing for 2 extra sts. in the thumb gusset after each inc.
Work 3 more rows.
The Thumb
Patt 29, K15, turn, P15 back, turn, and cast on 3 sts.
Work in st st on these 18 sts. for 1¾ ins. (or length required)
Shape top as follows:
1st row (RSF): * K1, SSK, K3, K2tog, K1; rep. from * to end.
2nd row: P.
3rd row: * K1, SSK, K1, K2tog, K1; rep. from *.
Break off wool. run through rem. sts., fasten off securely, and sew down seam of thumb.
Next row (RSF): K up 3 sts. from the base of thumb, K across rem. sts. and cont. in patt for 1½ ins. (or length required).
Commence Fingers
First Finger
(RSF): Patt 29, K4, turn, P15 back, turn and cast on 3 sts.
Cont. in st st on these 18 sts. for 2 ins. (or length required).
Shape top and finish off as for thumb.
Second Finger
(RSF): Rejoin wool and K up 3 sts. from the base of the First Finger, K6, turn, and P15 back, turn, and cast on 3 sts.
Cont. in st st on these 18 sts. for 2 ins. (or length required) .
Shape top and finish off as for thumb.
Third Finger
(RSF) Rejoin wool and K up 3 sts. from the base of the Second Finger, K6, turn, and P15 back, turn, and cast on 3 sts.
Cont. in st st on these 18 sts. for 1¾ ins. (or length required) . Shape top and finish off as for thumb.
Fourth Finger
(RSF): K up 3 sts. from the base of the Third Finger, K to end.
Cont. in st st on these 15 sts. for 1½ ins. (or length required) .
Shape top as follows:
1st row (RSF): K1, * SSK, K2, K2tog, K1, rep. from *.
2nd row: P.
3rd row: * K1, SSK, K2tog, K1, rep. from
Finish off as for thumb and sew down seam of glove.
Left Hand Glove
Work exactly as for R.H. to 1st patt row.
1st row: K21 , patt 29.
2nd row: Patt 29, P21.
3rd row: K19, K twice into the next st., K1, patt 29.
4th row: Patt 29, P22.
5th row: K19, K twice into the next 2 sts., K1, patt 29.
6th row: Patt 29, P24.
7th row: K24, patt 29.
8th row: As 6th row.
Cont. inc. in every 4th row as for R.H. until there are 13 extra sts. on needle.
Work the 3 rows following.
The Thumb
(RSF): K34, turn, cast on 3 sts., P18, turn , and work on these 18 sts. as for R.H. thumb.
Rejoin wool and K. up 3 sts. from the base of the thumb and cont. across all sts. as for R.H.
First Finger
(RSF): K32, turn, and cast on 3 sts., P18 back, turn, and cont. on these 18 sts. as for 1st finger R.H.
Second Finger
(RSF): K up 3 sts from the base of the First Finger, K6, turn, and cast on 3 sts., P18 back, turn and cont. on these 18 sts. as for Second Finger R.H.
Third Finger
(RSF): K up 3 sts. from the base of the Second Finger, K6, turn, and cast on 3 sts., P18 back, turn , and cont. on these 18 sts. as for Third Finger R.H.
Fourth Finger
(RSF): K up 3 sts. from the base of the Third Finger, K to end. Work on these 15 sts. as for Fourth Finger R.H.
