Handspun ribbed hat, spun and knit by Sarah Bradberry
This is a retro style watch-cap style hat with a simple decreased top. It’s perfect for knitting with bulky handspun wool.
Size
To fit an adult with head size 22″ Actual size is 20″
Materials
90gm of bulky weight merino – 117m – 7.5-8 WPI
Any suitable breed or commercial wool may be substituted
6.5mm circular needles and dpns
Gauge
Approximately 15sts to 10cm
Pattern
Cast on 76 stitches and work 25cm k2, p2 rib
Decrease for top
1st round: *K2, p2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (57sts)
2nd round: *K2, p1; repeat from * to the end of the round
3rd round: *K2tog, P1; repeat from * to the end of the round (38sts)
4th round: *K1, p1; repeat from * to the end of the round
5th round: Knit 2 together around (19sts)
6th round: Knit 3 together six times, k1 (7sts)
Break yarn, thread the tail through the remaining stitches, pull tight and fasten off.
