Instructions
Note: This pattern uses US crochet terms. US single crohet = UK double crochet and so on
Body is worked in one piece, starting in the center bottom.
Row 1–Using magic loop method, make a ring with 6 single crochet. Pull loop tight. All rows are worked in the round continuously, unless noted otherwise.
R2- Mark beginning of round, 2 sc in each stitch (12 sts)
R3 – sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat around (18 sts)
R4 – sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (24 sts)
R5 – sc in 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (30 sts)
R6 – sc in 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (36 sts)
R7 – sc in 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (42 sts)
Ch 1, turn
Working in back loops only, [slst, sc, dc, sc] around. This makes the scallop edge around the bottom. Connect with a slst to first stitch.
Turn.
R8 — Working in the other side of that row, or the other loop of the stitches you just worked, sc in each stitch around. (42 sts)
R9 – sc around (42 sts)
R10 – sc in 4 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts, repeat around (36 sts)
sc dec – insert hook in next sc, yo, pull up loop, insert hook in next sc, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through all three loops on the hook*
R11 – sc around (36 sts)
R12 – sc in 3 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts, repeat around (30 sts)
R13 – sc in 2 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts, repeat around (24 sts)
R14 – sc in next st, sc dec in next 2 sts, repeat around (18 sts)
R15 – sc dec in next 2 sts, repeat around (12 sts)
Stuff the body firmly at this point.
R16 – sc dec in next 2 sts, repeat around (6 sts) Finish off.
Outer Tentacles With one strand of eyelash and worsted weight, connect to bottom of body with a slip stitch.
Ch 24 Sc in second ch from hook, 2 sc in next ch, repeat up the whole chain. Connect other side to body with another slst. Finish off. Pull ends up through body.
Work 5 more tentacles around body.
Inner Tentacles Using worsted weight only, connect yarn near the center of the bottom.
Ch 40 Sc in second ch from hook, 2 sc in next ch, repeat up the whole chain. Connect other side to body with another slst. Pull ends up through body. Make one more tentacle.
Ears Using magic loop, make 6 sc in ring. Pull loop up tight.
R1 – sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat once more (8 sts)
R2 – sc in 3 sts, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat once more (10 sts)
R3 – sc in each stitch around (10 sts)
Finish off. Sew to kitty head.
