Knitting Pals by the Bay
From KnitWiki
We knit chemo caps for children, teens and adults who have cancer. We use soft yarn, and knit in the round so the caps have no seams and are comfortable.
[edit] General Guidelines for Donations
The Pals came into being with one purpose, to knit chemo caps for Bay Area cancer patients of all ages. The need is great and the project is ongoing. Hospitals and clinics in San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, San Mateo, Burlingame, Palo Alto, and Oakland are receiving donated caps for children, teens, and adults. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Pals at their website, noted below.
See link below for donation specifics, free patterns, and mailing address. It's a Flash site, so all pages have the same base URL. There is a list of locations that are currently being given to, and a list of drop off locations all around the greater Bay Area (and beyond!), and an email link for inquiring where one should mail in caps if desired.
The Knitting Pals began in San Francisco in 2002, and has been expanding into more locations ever since! Perhaps you'd like to start a local "Knitting Pals" organization where you are. Since I don't have permission (yet?) to post folks' contact information, I'll just tell you it's at the Knitting Pals website, which gives a local Knitting Pal contact, and lists where caps are currently being donated.
