This is the most frequently used bind-off.

[edit] Method

Work two stitches according to established stitch-pattern, then pass the first stitch over the second stitch on the right-hand needle; *work the next stitch on the left-hand needle, pass the second stitch on the right-hand needle over the just-worked stitch; continue from * to the end. This can be done tightly or loosely, depending on the tension of the knitter and the desired flexibility of the resulting edge.

[edit] Variations

If you want to ensure that the bind-off edge is loose, one method is to replace the right-hand needle with a needle at least two sizes larger than the project needle size.
