Help:Knitting Charts
From KnitWiki
For the sake of clarity the KnitWiki has an official stitch chart format. This means that we will have one cohesive set of chart symbols, just like a hard copy printed book.
The charts made by Knit Visualizer software are the official chart format the KnitWiki will be using.

Stitch Pattern Charts
If You Own Knit Visualizer
If you have Knit Visualizer, please use this to make your charts and legends.
Please also upload the *.kct file so that other users of Knit Visualizer will be able to download it and use the original file to create variations.
You will also need to add the following to the bottom of your stitch pattern (just before you add the category information)
{{Knit_Visualizer}}
This will add the following table to the bottom of the page:
If You Don't Own Knit Visualizer
Don't worry! You can upload charts in any format you like, from graphics created in any charting software to a nice clear scan of a hand drawn chart. Your original charts will then be replaced with ones made in Knit Visualizer by an editor who owns the software.
Colour Charts
At the moment, colour charts may be created in any software, or drawn neatly by hand and scanned.
Please watch this page in case changes are made to this policy.
Charts for Download
You may make charts available for download in any software format. All formats will remain available for download, whether or not they are made in knit visualizer format.
The code for downloadable files is as follows:
[[Media:filename.extension]]
If the file available for download is called Knot.kct, then the code to make it available for download would read
[[Media:Knot.kct]]
Popular Formats for Downloadable Files
Some popular formats for download might include:
