The Official List of Article Categories for the KnitWiki Project
When you add a new knitting article to the KnitWiki, please list it in one or more of the following categories by adding the following text at the bottom of your text|
[[Category:Name| Article title]]
replacing Category:Name with one of the options from the list below, and Article title with the name of the article you have added.
Please note the UK spelling of the word favourite
| Category:Book_Reviews | Knitting book and magazine reviews |
| Category:Charities | Charities that accept knitted items. Please do not just add a lot of links. These should be articles about the charities with links to their official web sites. |

Category:DVD_and_Video_Reviews | Knitting related DVD and Video Reviews |
| Category:Favourite_Patterns | Articles about popular patterns. Why are they popular, where to find them, what yarns have you used, gallery of photos of the item that people have knit, special tips etc. |
| Category:Groups | Stitch & Bitch and other social knitting groups. Guilds should be listed under Category:Guilds |
| Category:Guilds | Official knitting guilds details and descriptions. Stitch & Bitch and other social knitting groups should be listed under Category:Groups |

Category:Hand_Knitting_Equipment | Hand knitting equipment. What it is, it's history (if it has one) with additional links to articles about how to use it. |

Category:History | The history of any particular type, or style, of knitting |
| Category:Knitting_Terms | Knitting terms. Lists of knitting terms in different languages. |
| Category:Loom_Knitting | Loom knitting now has it's own category. This includes knitting looms, I-cord knitting spools and the various types of knitting frames. Articles about them, how to use them, patterns to knit on them etc. Please also list patterns under Category:Loom_Knitting_Patterns |
| Category:Machine_Knitting_Equipment | Machine knitting equipment. What it is, it's history (if it has one) links to articles about how to use it. |
| Category:Miscellaneous_Knitting_Equipment | Miscellaneous knitting equipment. Any articles about knitting equipment that are not directly related to either hand or machine knitting. |
| Category:People | Articles about knitting people! Whether they are famous designers or a local knitter that really inspired you. |
| Category:Podcasts | Reviews and information about knitting podcasts and podcasters. |
| Category:Software_Reviews | Reviews of knitting software. |
| Category:Stories | Anecdotal knitting stories. Did you knit socks for the troops during WW2? Did something funny happen on your way to a knitting conference? Those sorts of articles belong in this category. |
| Category:Teachers | Contact and class details about people who teach knitting related classes |
| Category:Techniques | Knitting techniques. The all important "How To..." section! |
| Category:Yarn_Reviews | Yarn reviews |
| Category:Yarn_Shop_Listings | Lists of yarn shops in a specific country, broken down by state or province, then city or metropolitan area. This category is not intended for yarn shop reviews as yarn shop reviews are not allowed to be added to the wiki for legal reasons |
