[edit] Notes on the Pattern

  • The feather and fan shawl is great for using up oddments of any weight yarn.
  • It can be knit in any weight of yarn using needles to suit, and can be made to fit anybody of any age or size.
  • Knitting stripes of different colours accentuates the waviness of the feather and fan stitch. Knit in a single colour, the vertical panels of lace become the main feature. See Lynne's feather and fan comfort shawl for an example of a single coloured shawl.
