Crochet Chain Cast-On
From KnitWiki
This method of casting on creates an edge almost identical to the one created by the crochet cast-on, though many consider it easier.
[edit] Method
Begin with a simple crochet chain. Once enough chains have been created to equal one less than the number of stitches desired, turn the chain over so that the bumps that were forming as the yarn was pulled through each loop are revealed. Put the needle through the first bump and pick up one stitch as if to knit; repeat in each bump.
