[edit] Clapotis
Possibly one of the most popular patterns published on the Knitty.com online knitting magazine, the Clapotis (Fall 2004 issue) is a scarf/wrap, designed by talented knit designer Kate Gilbert.
It is knitted on the bias, so the stitches run diagonally, with sections divided by dropped stitches, which adds to the stretchy, lacy and scrunchy look of the piece. Suitable for a wide variety of yarns, wool, silk, rayon, cotton, the Clapotis can be made narrower than the pattern calls for by knitting less repeats for a narrow scarf, or wider with more repeats for a nice wrap/shawl. The Clapotis can look stunning in a variegated yarn, or in a solid color.
