Knitted rose leaf and check patterned edging
The sample was knit with size 10 perle cotton and 2.25mm needles and measures 9 cm/3½” wide

In Words

Cast on 30 sts and knit 1 row.

Row 1 (RS): k2, yo, p2tog, k6, Pass the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th st on the LHN over the first stitch and off the needle, (yo) twice, k2, yo, p2tog, k1, (yo) twice, k2tog, k7, yo, p2tog

Row 2 (WS): yo, p2tog, k8, (k1, p1) into double yo made on previous row, k1, yo, p2tog, k2, (k1, p1, k1, p1) into double yo made on previous row, k6, yo, p2tog, k2

Row 3: k2, yo, p2tog, k12, yo, p2tog, k11, yo, p2tog

Row 4: yo, p2tog, k11, yo, p2tog, k6, Pass the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th st on the LHN over the first stitch and off the needle, (yo) twice, k2, yo, p2tog, k2

Row 5: k2, yo, p2tog, k2, (k1, p1, k1, p1) into double yo made on previous row, k6, yo, p2tog, k1, [(yo) twice, k2tog] two times, k6, yo, p2tog

Row 10: yo, k2, [(k1, p1) into double yo made on previous row, k1] three times, yo, p2tog, k6, Pass the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th st on the LHN over the first stitch and off the needle, (yo) twice, k2, yo, p2tog, k2

Row 11: k2, yo, p2tog, k2, (k1, p1, k1, p1) into double yo made on previous row, k6, yo, p2tog, k10, yo, p2tog

Row 12: (k12, yo, p2tog) twice, k2

These 12 rows form the pattern. Repeat for desired length.

Chart

Cast on 30 sts and knit 1 row.

Note: Some double yarn overs are made into 2sts on the following row and some are made into 4sts. Keep a close eye on the chart to make sure you end up with the correct number of stitches.
