Super Quick Reversible One Skein Wool-Ease Scarf

Swatch

Several months ago I purchased a lone skein of Woolease in a sale bin – black studded with silvery “hairs.”

I thought it was awfully pretty and puzzled what I could make with just one skein. Then I got an idea to try a scarf and devised the following pattern. It is a variation on what I think is a pebble stitch, modified to make it reversible.
The result is an open weave ridged patterned scarf, about 7 1/2 inches wide by 40 inches long, using just one skein of Wool-Ease on No. 10 needles. The scarf would probably be longer using plain Woolease as opposed to novelty or variegated, as the yardage of those skeins is slightly greater.

Cast on 30 sts on size 10 needles

Selvage: Slip the 1st of every row and knit the last st of every row (not mentioned in the pattern below)

Row 1 – purl

Row 2 – k2 tog across

Row 3 – *k1, m1 by knitting into the bar between the sts, taking care not to twist the loop*.  Repeat across row.

Repeat these 3 rows until yarn runs out.

This makes a small, but decent sized scarf – large enough to keep your neck and chest warm under a coat.

I was really pleased with the result. It would be a quick project for a gift or charity.
