Look up this pattern on
Fluted Lace
With 2-ply (lace weight) wool and No.14 (2mm) needles cast on 30 sts.

1st Row: Knit 4, purl 18, * (yo, k2tog) 3 times, yo, knit 2

2nd Row: Knit 27, turn

3rd Row: Purl 19, Repeat from * of 1st row

4th Row: Knit 28, turn

5th Row: Knit 20, Repeat from * of 1st row

6th Row: Knit 7, purl 22, turn

7th Row: Knit 1, (yo, k2tog) Repeat until last 2 sts, yo, knit 2

8th Row: Knit 7, purl 23, k4

9th Row: Knit

10th Row: Cast off 4. Knit to end.

Repeat these 10 rows for length required.
