| Edging number 4 includes instructions for knitting both the straight
edging plus how to turn the corner in pattern.
UK needle sizes are used throughout. Abbreviations: Edging #1:Materials Required:1 pr no 17 needles (1.25mm) no 40 mercerised cotton Directions: 1st row: k5, p16, (yo, k2tog) to last 2 sts, yo, k2 2nd row: k29, turn 3rd row: p17, (yo, k2tog) to last 2 sts, yo, k2 4th row: k to end 5th row: k21, (yo, k2tog) to last 2 sts, yo, k2 6th row: k13, p18, turn 7th row: k1, (yo, k2tog) to last 2 sts, yo, k2 8th row: k18, p19, turn 9th row: k to end 10th row: Cast off 4, k to end These 10 rows form the pattern. Repeat until length desired. Edging #2 (Rosebud):Materials Required:20gm ball of no 40 mercerised cotton 1pr no 16 needles (1.5mm) Directions: 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th rows (ws): k2, yo, k2tog, p to end 2nd row: sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, sl1, k1, psso, yo, k2, yo, k2tog, k1 4th row: (sl1, k1, psso, yo) twice, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, k1, yo, k2tog, k1 6th row: sl1, k1, psso, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2, yo, k2tog, k1 8th row: sl1, k1, psso, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3, yo, k2, yo, k2tog, k1 These 8 rows form the pattern. Repeat until length desired. Press the lace according to the instructions on your yarn label. Edging #3 (Lattice):Materials Required:20gm ball of no 40 mercerised cotton 1pr no 16 needles (1.5mm) Directions: 1st row (ws): k2, yo, k2tog, p10 2nd row: 4 chain (as explained in the abbreviations) k2tog, pass the first st over the second st on right hand needle, (yo, k2tog) three times, yo, k1, yo, kb (knit into the back of the stitch), yo, k2tog, k1. Now pass the slipped st back onto the left hand needle and k3tog, k1 18th row: yo, k2tog, k14, yo, k1, yo, k2, yo, k10, yo, k1, yo, k2, yo, k3 Repeat these 18 rows for your desired length. Turning the Corner: 1st row: sl1, k2, p6, k10, p6, k3, yo2, k13 2nd row: yo, k2tog, k12, p1, k25, turn, leaving 3 sts unworked 3rd row: sl1, p5, k10, p6, k18 4th row: yo, k2tog, k37, turn, leaving 4 sts unworked 5th row: sl1, p4, k10, cable 6, k3, yo2, k2tog, yo2, k13 6th row: yo, k2tog, k12, p1, k2, p1, k3, yo, k1, yo, k2, yo, k14, turn, leaving 5 sts unworked 7th row: sl1, p3, k10, p6, k21 8th row: yo, k2tog, k38, turn, leaving 6 sts unworked 9th row: sl1, p2, k10, p6, k3, (yo2, k2tog) 3 times, k12 10th row: yo, k2tog, k12, p1, (k2, p1) twice, k21, turn, leaving 7 sts unworked 11th row: sl1, p1, k10, cable 6, k24 12th row: yo, k2tog, k22, yo, k1, yo, k2, yo, k11, turn, leaving 8 sts unworked 13th row: sl1, k10, p6, k3, (yo2, k2tog) 4 times, k13 14th row: yo, k2tog, k13, p1, (k2, p1) 3 times, k19, turn, leaving 9 sts unworked 15th row: sl1, k9, p6, k28 16th row: yo, k2tog, k41 (making sure to knit the first 13 loosely), turn, leaving 10sts unworked 17th row: sl1, k8, cable 6, k14, sl1, then draw 10sts, one by one, over the 1st 2sts as you did for the straight section of lace. Pass slipped st back onto left hand needle, k3tog, k1 18th row: yo, k2tog, k14, yo, k1, yo, k2, yo, k19 Repeat these 18 rows 3 more times to complete corner, then follow with the same number of repeats for straight section on each side. When the 4 sides and corners are completed pick up 41sts on cast on edge and graft the beginning and end together.
