Wave Ribbed Sleeveless Pullover

Man's sleeveless pullover with travelling stitch patterning

Materials

11 Skeins (1 oz) Lincoln Mills “Daphne” Crochet Wool (used doubled), or alternately
11 Skeins (1 oz) Lincoln Mills Double Crepe “Waratah” Wool (used single)

1 pair each UK No 7/4.5mm/US 7 and UK No 9/3.75mm/US 5 Knitting Needles.

Measurements

To fit 38 inch chest. Length from shoulder, 22 inches.

Tension

(when pressed) 26 sts (1 pattern) 4 inches, 6 rows to 1 inch.

Back

With No. 9 needles cast on 104 sts and work in ribbing K1, P1, for 22 rows (3 inches).

Change to No. 7 needles and begin pattern.

1st Row: Slip 1, K6, * P2, K1, P2, K2, P2, K1, P2, K14; repeat from * to last 19 sts, P2, K1, P2, K2, P2, K1, P2, K7.

2nd and Every Alternate Row Knit the sts that were purled and purl the sts that were knitted in previous row.

3rd Row: Slip 1, P5, * (K1, P2) twice, K2, (P2, K1) twice, P12, repeat from * to last 20 sts, (K1, P2) twice, K2, (P2, K1) twice, purl to last st, K1.

5th Row: Same as 1st row.

Continue to work these 36 rows increasing each end of every 12th row until 112 sts on needle and 66 rows from waist ribbing.

Shape Armholes

Cast off 5 sts at the beginning of each of next 2 rows, then decrease each end of next and every 2nd row until 82 sts Work without further decrease until 66 rows in armhole.

Cast off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows, then cast off 9 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Cast off remaining sts

Front

With No. 9 needles cast on 108 sts, and work in ribbing K1, P1, for 22 rows.

Change to No. 7 needles and begin pattern.

1st Row: Slip 1, K8, * P2, K1, P2, K2, P2, K1, P2, K14, repeat from * to last 21 sts, P2, K1, P2, K2, P2, K1, P2, K9.

Continue in pattern increasing each end of every 12th row until 118 sts and 60 rows.

61st Row: Work 1st 59 sts Leave remaining 59 sts on spare needle.

62nd Row: Slip 1, K2tog, work to end.

63rd Row: Work without decreasing.

64th Row: Same as 62nd row.

Repeat last 2 rows (65-66).

67th Row: Cast off 5 sts, work to end of row, then decrease at armhole edge in each of next 12 rows, and continue to decrease at neck edge every 4th row until 25 sts left.

When 66 rows in armhole cast off as for back.

Join wool to centre front and work other side to correspond.

Press Work.

Join shoulder and side seams.

With one thickness of wool work 5 rows of double crochet around each armhole, and beginning at centre from work 5 rows of double crochet backwards and forwards round neck, decreasing 1 st at each end of each row
