| Materials:
I used 40gm of Cleckheaton Country 8ply 100% Wool in acid green (colour
1976) at approx 96m, 106yards to 50gm
Tension:
20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st st on 4.5mm needles, or needles
needed to obtain gauge.
Abbreviations:
M = Make One. Pick up thread lying between sts and knit into the back
of it.
= Slip, Slip,
Knit. Slip next st from left hand needle to right hand needle knitways.
Slip next st the same way. Return both sts to left hand needle in their
new twisted positions and k2tog.
= Knit
2 together.
= No Stitch. Skip this stitch in the chart and work your next st as the
following square.
= Knit into the back of the st.
= Cable 4 front: slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k2, k2
sts from cable needle
= Cable 4 back: slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k2, k2 sts
from cable needle
= Twist front: Slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front, p1, knit st
from cable needle
= Twist back: Slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in back , k1, purl st
from cable needle
= Twist 3 front: Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front, p1, k2
sts from cable needle
= Twist 3 back: Slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in back, k2, purl st
from cable needle
= Twist 4 front: Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front, p2, k2
from cable needle
= Twist 4 back: Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k2, p2 from
cable needle
Work all cables as they appear in the chart, making sure to work the
background sts in reverse st st.
Technique:
Cast on 46sts,
Work chart through once, working background in garter stitch in the area
shaded pink, and reverse stocking st in the remaining background area.
Trees are worked in st st throughout. Work a further 2 rows reverse st
st.
Cast off neatly and block.
