Gauge:
20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st st

Materials:
Approximately 30gms acrylic or 45 grams wool, DK or worsted

Needles:
US size 7 (Old UK 7 or Metric 4.5mm) for DK wool or US size 6 (Old UK 8 or Metric 4mm) for worsted weight

Abbreviations:
K = Knit
P = Purl
K2tog = Knit 2 together
yo = Yarn Over
ssk = slip, slip, knit

Cast on 48sts and knit 6 rows. Then work as follows:

Tulip Lace:
From Vogue Knitting, p. 144

Row 1:  Knit.
Row 2 and all WS rows of lace pattern:  Purl.
Row 3:  K3, *yo, ssk, k6; rep from *, end last rep k3.
Row 5:  K1, *k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k3; rep from *, end last rep k2.
Row 7:  Repeat row 3.
Row 9:  Knit.
Row 11:  K7, *yo, ssk, k6; rep from *, end k1.
Row 13:  K5, *k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k3; rep from *, end k3.
Row 15:  Repeat row 11.
Row 16: Purl

Repeat rows 1 - 16  three times.
Knit 6 rows and cast off.

Finishing:

Sew in all loose ends and block.
