Gauge:
20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st st

Materials:
Unknown amount of worsted weight Sugar N Cream (note from Sarah: I'd guess approximately 50gm)

Needles:
US size 8 (Old UK 6 or Metric 4mm)

Abbreviations:
K = Knit
P = Purl
C6R= Cable 6 right: Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold at the back of the work. K3, then knit 3 from the cable needle
C6L= Cable 6 right: Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold at the front of the work. K3, then knit 3 from the cable needle

Pattern:

Cast on 40sts and knit 5 rows garter st
Work cables as follows, remembering to knit the first and last 5 sts of every row (this is not included in the pattern):

Row 1 (RS): P2, K9, P8, K9, P2

Row 2 and all WS rows: Knit the K sts and P the P sts

Row 3: P2, C6L, K3, P2, K4, P2, C6R, K3, P2

Row 5: Rep row 1

Row 7: P2, K3, C6R, P8, K3, C6L,

Row 8: Rep row 2

Rep rows 1-8 until work measures just over 8 1/2 inches.
Knit 5 rows
Cast off.

Finishing:

Sew in all loose ands and block.
