Elsa used 1oz (approx 25gms) of Wintuk 100% acrylic 4 ply worsted in colour Dark Colonial Blue (3160 058) – unknown yardage.

Needles
Elsa used US size 6 (Old UK 8 or Metric 4mm)

Abbreviations

C4F = sl next 2sts onto cable needle and hold in front, K2, then K2 from cable needle

C4B = sl next 2sts onto cable needle and hold in back, K2, then K2 from cable needle

C4FP = sl next 2sts onto cable needle and hold in front, P2, then K2 from cable needle

C4BP = sl next 2sts onto cable needle and hold in back, K2, then P2 from cable needle

K = Knit

P = Purl

Cable Pattern:
Worked over 16sts

Row 1 (RS): K1, P3, C4B, C4F, P3, K1

Row 2 (and all following alternate rows): Knit the K sts and P the purl sts as they face you

Row 3: K1, P3, K8, P3, K1

Row 5: Work as for row 1

Row 7: Work as for row 3

Row 9: Work as for row 1

Row 11: K1, P1, C4BP, K1, P2, K1, C4FP, P1, K1

Row 13: C4F, P2, (K1, P2) twice, C4B

Row 15: K4, P2, (K1, P2) twice, K4

Row 17: Work as for row 13

The Square

Cast on 46sts and work as follows:

K 4 rows garter st

Next Row: K1, P5, (K1, P2) three times, work cable pattern over next 16 sts, (P2, K1) three times, P5, K1

Continue, working the cable across the centre 16 sts until you have worked 2 full repeats of the pattern.
