Materials

I used approximately 45gm 8 ply (DK) 100% wool in hot pink @ approx 100mtr/96 yards per 50gm.

Tension

20sts and 28 rows to 4 inches (10cm) over st-st on 4.5mm needles, or needles needed to obtain gauge.

Abbreviations

st-st = stocking st
Inc = increase by working K1, P1 into the same st

Technique

Cast on 31 sts and work work 6 rows st st

Work chart in a single colour, knitting the background in st st and the heart in seed st. Work a further 5 rows st st. Do not cast off.
Knit 1 row, then pick up 31sts along the remaining 3 edges. Arrange evenly on 4 double pointed needles.

Work border in the round in seed st as follows:
1st round: Work instructions once for each needle. (K1, P1) to last st, K1
2nd round: Work instructions once for each needle. Keeping seed st correct, inc, seed st to last st, inc.

Continue these 2 rounds until you have 45 sts on each needle. Cast off and block.
