This pattern uses American crochet terms. US single crochet = UK double crochet. US double crochet = UK treble and so on
Materials
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen or other size 10 pearl/perle cotton, 1 ball of Red.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7/1.65mm
Pattern
Starting at top, ch 17.
1st row: 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 5 ch, in next ch make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc; dc in next 6 ch, 3 dc in next ch. Ch 3, turn.
2nd row: 3 dc in 1st dc, dc in each dc to ch-2 sp, in sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc; dc in each dc across to turning ch, 3 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Repeat this row 3 more times.
6th to 10th rows incl: Dc in each dc across, making 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc in ch-2 sp, and ending with dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
11th to 17th rows incl: Work as before, decreasing 2 dc at both ends of each row – to dec 2 dc, work off 2 dc as 1 dc twice. Do not make ch at end of 17th row. Turn.
18th row: Sl st in 1st 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, half dc in next 2 sts, dec 2 sts by working off 2 dc as 1 dc twice. Work across row, increasing at center as before to last 10 sts; then dec 2 sts as before and work 2 half dc and 2 sc. Turn.
19th row: Same as 18th row. Fasten off.
Make another piece same as this.
PAD – Cut flannel, muslin or any soft material, slightly smaller than crocheted pieces. Place between crochet, tacking to wrong side of one piece.
Place padding between two crocheted pieces and work as follows:
Frill
1st rnd : Working through both thicknesses, make sc closely all around edges. Join.
2nd rnd : * Ch 5, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc at base of ch-5 first made.
3rd rnd: * Ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending as before.
Fasten off.
Loop
Attach thread to center of foundation chain, and make a chain 6 inches long. Sl st in same place as thread was attached.
Now sc closely around loop just formed. Fasten off.
