This pattern uses American crochet terms. US single crochet = UK double crochet. US double crochet = UK treble and so on
Materials
American Thread Company “Star” Cotton Yarn, article 65 or “Star” Rug Yarn, article 44
1 skein Green.
1 skein Yellow.
1 skein White will make several potholders
Steel Crochet Hook US No 0/2.25mm
Pattern
With Yellow, ch 16, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row: 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.
Repeat the 2nd row 13 times.
16th Row: Work a row of sc around entire square working 3 sc in each corner st, break yarn.
17th Row: Attach Green in center st of corner, sl st in each sc, join, ch 1.
18th Row: Working across 2 sides only and picking up back loop of st only, work 1 sc in each of the 1st 16 sl sts, drop
Green and attach White, (when changing Color always complete the last half of st with next Color) 3 sc in next si st, 1 sc in each of the next 16 sl sts, ch 1, turn.
19th Row: Working in both loops, work 1 sc in each of the next 17 sc, 3 sc in next sc, break yarn, pick up Green, 1 sc in each remaining sc, break yarn, turn.
20th Row: Attach Yellow in same space, work 1 sc in each of the next 19 sc, 3 sc in next sc, drop Yellow, with Green, 1 sc in each remaining sc, ch 1, turn.
21st Row: 1 sc in each of the 1st 18 sc, break yarn, with Yellow, 1 sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each remaining sc, break yarn.
22nd Row: With right side of work toward you, attach Green in 1st row of Green sc, sl st in each of the next 4 rows, 1 sc in each sc of next 2 sides, 1 sc in each of the next 4 rows, break yarn.
23rd Row: Attach White in center sl st at corner, working in back loop of st only, 3 sc in each corner st and 1 sc in each sc on all sides, join.
24th Row: Working in both loops, work 1 sc in each sc and 3 sc in each center sc at corner, break yarn.
25th Row: Same as 17th row.
26th and 27th Rows: With Yellow, work same as 23rd and 24th rows.
28th Row: Sl st in each sc, join, break yarn.
Ring
Over a bone ring, with Yellow, work 16 sc, join, break yarn. Sew in position.
