Check Cushion

Size: 40cm or 60cm square

Materials

Medium Butterfly Loom (22 x 22cm) for 60cm cushion or Small Loom (17 x 17cm) for a 40cm cushion. You can buy one from The Butterfly Loom at http://www.thebutterflyloom.com, along with instructions on how to use it

2 pieces of plain white fabric, 43x 43cm for small cushion, 63 X 63 cm for large cushion
Matching sewing thread

Polyester fibre fill.

Yarn:
3 balls each of Panda Magnum 100% acrylic Courtelle in colours (you’ll need less for the small cushion)
Blue: Saxe Colour # 310 and
White Colour #301

Note: This pattern has not been tested so these amounts are approximate.
To make sure you have enough yarn make squares until you have used up a whole ball of yarn and use this number to work out how many balls you’ll need to complete your cushion.

Pattern

Place your fabric with right sides together and stitch around 4 sides with a 15mm seam allowance, leaving an opening to turn in the right way.

Turn in the right way, stuff and hand stitch the hole closed.

Using the small loom for the small cushion, or the medium size loom for the larger cushion, make 25 blue squares and 25 white.

Sew them together to make two squares following the diagram, sewing the edge knots on adjacent squares to each other and leaving the free loops on the front of your work.

With the wrong sides together, sew the two squares together around three sides at the knots. Insert your cushion and sew the final edge closed.
