Invasion Time

The Wintertime spring cleaning is finished. Everything has been vacuumed, polished, bleached, scrubbed or otherwise tidied away in time for our rental inspection this afternoon.

I simply cannot express how much I hate rental inspections. Not only does it freak me out that total strangers are coming here and invading my personal space, but there always has to be some kind of joke made at my expense because I "do crafts". I'm so sick of it that now, when people ask what I do for a living, I tell them I'm a non-fiction author. Technically it's the truth and I don't have to put up with the insinuations that writing craft books and websites isn't a real job!

While I wait for them to arrive I'm going to work on adding some more of the Home Work patterns to the knitwiki and afterwards I'm going to treat myself by having a go at making something with my Singercraft tools.

Hopefully my daughter won't bring any friends home from school today. The speed at which teenagers can destroy a kitchen is amazing...

Be proud of what you do, and you are a published author, pattern maker etc etc. Many of us rely on you on a daily basis for hints, tips, information and inspiration. Stuff what others think, you enjoy what you do, as do us others. Onya Sarah!

Oh! I completely sympathize! The house has sold and we're in the process of moving - an adventure like no other. Up until that point, there were endless calls of "I have a broker who would like to show your house from 5 to 7, ok?" You say "ok" but inside your tummy takes a tumble and you just hate hate hate how you know they'll be looking at YOUR things, not just the house, poking through your things, opening drawers of furniture they aren't buying, playing with the wheel (a severe crime even for the inmates around here) etc. gah. All I can say is after at least one showing a day (typically) for 24 days, I'm glad it was over rather quickly and I'm not sure if I'll be up to doing it again any time in the future.
