Gratuitous Consumerism
But before we get to that, look what I made!

This shawl is proof that my love of disgustingly bright shawls is not a recent thing. I made this is 1989, shortly after reading Kaffe Fassett's Glorious Knitting.
:-)
More recently (ie: last night), I made this little cutie. A book thong.

I'd like to publicly thank the person who posted a link to the pattern on one of the email lists I subscribe to. Not only are they fun to make, but they're useful too.
And now, on to the gratuitous consumerism...
Yesterday Jamie and I went to Melbourne and, whilst there, I took the opportunity to visit Marta's Yarns for the very first time. (And probably only time, since the shop is over 250km away)
I bought a few things I had previously been planning to buy from them online.
Enormous circular needles in sizes 12, 15 and 20mm

I didn't get the turbos because I think they'd be too slick when knitting with 5 or more strands of yarn and I'd lose parts of stitches all over the place.
And I got their 2 ply colour card. Proof that they really do dye over 360 colours! I also bought some 2 ply yarn for 3 pairs of fingerless gloves.

Now I've finished showing off, I really must get back to work on my scarf. Only 3 1/2 pattern repeats to go!
:-)
